Orientation
All new international scholars must meet with their International Advisor for an orientation session soon after their arrival. Topics covered include: information about the area, immigration laws and responsibilities, safety, and health insurance. Visitors are also "checked in" during the orientation for immigration purposes.
Your International Advisor will email you before your program start to arrange for an orientation session. If you do not receive an email before your arrival, please first check your junk mail and then email iss@siue.edu.
Bring These Documents
- Passport
- Visa
- DS-2019 form
- I-94 printout
- Your contact information and the address where you will live in the U.S.
- Emergency contact information for the U.S. and your home country
Note: If family members will accompany you, please bring their documents too.
You will complete a J-1 Scholar Check-in Form upon arrival.
