SEVIS Transfer Out
If you are a current Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) scholar who will be transferring to another U.S. institution to continue your program, you will need to transfer your SEVIS record. A SEVIS transfer allows you to transfer your J-1 record from one institution to another. Before requesting a SEVIS transfer, contact the international office at your new institution to notify them of your intent to transfer your SEVIS record.
What is the benefit of having my SEVIS record transferred?
- You do not have to pay the I-901 SEVIS fee again
- You can stay in the U.S. while your transfer is processed
- If you travel outside of the U.S. in between time at institutions, you do not need to get a new visa (if your current J-1 visa is still valid)
Am I eligible for a SEVIS transfer?
- I have been invited for a scholar program at another institution
- I am requesting a SEVIS transfer before the end date of my DS-2019
