Explorer Program
Purpose
The Explorer program consists of a series of co-curricular activities designed for Black Scholar Experience participants. The program presents a variety of learning opportunities for participating students and serves as a network of support throughout their first year at SIUE.
Elements of Explorer Program
- A sense of academically-engaged community for participants
- Access to culturally distinct, educational activities that excite student interest
- Exposure to information and experiences that strengthen participants' ability to successfully navigate SIUE
Program setup
The Explorers will attend seven events each semester in the Eugene B. Redmond Learning Center in Lovejoy Library. In December and late April, Explorers will participate in our end-of-the-semester festivals – showcases highlighting artistic and scholarly projects produced by fellow students. The activities will include walk-through exhibits, poster presentations, and a series of audio and video compositions.
